Student Community Service

Student volunteer hours may be obtained by service at the SCV Food Pantry. Reservations for volunteer service can be made Monday through Thursdays from 8:30am-12:30pm by calling 661.255.9078.  No volunteer service can be allowed without prior reservations.   The first Saturday of the month volunteers hours are normally booked up at least one month prior to date. Students under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/adult during volunteer hours at the SCV Food Pantry.

If you are will not be able to volunteer on the day you reserved, please call to cancel that reservation.  This will allow other students who are placed on a waiting list to volunteer that day.

The SCV Food Pantry can approve up to 10 community service/volunteer hours for students conducting a food drive in the student’s neighborhood or with an organization to which they belong.

Time sheets/task logs must be kept by the student for time spent designing the food drive flyer and conducting a food drive.  Parent verification is needed to approve those volunteer hours.  Both the student and parent must sign the time sheet for verification of hours.

Steps for conducting a food drive in your neighborhood (always do food drives with a buddy ):

1.  Design a flyer stating your name and that you are conducting a food drive for the SCV Food Pantry to earn volunteers hours needed for the National Honor Society or for school.    Click here to download a Sample Flyer or here to download another.

2.  You and a buddy go to your neighbor’s homes to collect food.  If they aren’t home, leave your flyer.

3. Be sure to track all your time on a time sheet.  Mark down the time you began and ended each day.

The student may bring the donated items to the SCV Food Pantry or a parent may drop them off during our regular business hours.  A representative from the SCV Food Pantry will then be happy to sign the form provided by your school verifying your community service/volunteer hours.

Thanks for helping your neighbors in need and the SCV Food Pantry!
